In all of this frenzied media surrounding the eviction of Ashley and John, my blog has rocketed to the number 4 position on WordPress.com’s top blogs. This is out of 243,000 blogs, so I am feeling pretty amazed! If the popularity of my blog can be correlated to that of the current series of Big Brother, this event is completely off the scale!
Since my last entry about this scandal, I have seen last night’s daily and eviction show, listen to conservatives crap on about axing the show and seen the actual footage with my own two eyes.
I think that they handled the daily show quite well in terms of explaining what transpired while being sensitive to the fact that children would be watching. What I couldn’t believe was how the housemates reacted. They were seemingly all comforting each other… except for Camilla. For Jamie, the whole incident seemed to be about him, which was in character. Perry did lot’s of mumsy type things. Claire felt sorry for Ashley and John, Gaelan didn’t say a damn thing and Krystal thought she could negotiate their return. David was criticised for not saying anything much, but I think he knew the whole thing wasn’t about him, he seemed to be the most concerned for Camilla.
There have been further calls by conservative politicians and the like for Big Brother to be axed. I can’t believe the kinds of issues that mobilise such passion in these people. Get a life. I don’t agree with what happened, but this is hardly the thing that is going to bring down our civilisation is it? Maybe you could focus on the fact that Global Warming is a reality and stop worrying about other (not you) people watching a television show.
I saw the footage thanks to a few commentors on this blog and found the behaviour dissapointing. John and Ashley seemed to conspire the situation in bed as a joke. There wasn’t any hyperactivity before it and Camilla seemed to suspect what they were going to do. Despite her protestations, she still got into the bed. I don’t think she was truly offended, but I think their activity was degrading towards her and they wouldn’t have done it to any of the other housemates.
This situation has boosted Big Brother’s popularity at time when interest was flagging. Will they bring new housemates in at this late stage? Or maybe bring back two previously evicted housemates. They could have phone vote for who to reinstate.

Wow Brad, those stats re your blog and current events are mindblowing. Just shows the power of a little TV scandal. It has certainly pricked everyones ears, and as disappointing as those boys behaviour was, BB sent the right message by booting them out but I don’t think it warrants taking BB off air as fundamentally it is an entertaining show – just shows we need a different calibre of housemate for next year. Keep up your great community service Brad!

It’s funny, but I think they had the right type of casting in the first series. Those people were amusing, but the Uncut show didn’t have enough footage to warrant a full series. The most risque it got was the ‘dancing doona.’
I think that this will be the last series of BB.

I don’t have much more to say on this topic – I have said it all under the heading Ashley and John – Update.
I can only agree with Liz and Brad that this may be the last season and BB was right to kick them out. Let’s face it – John was on 2 strikes anyway.
Even though Camilla says she was not offended I don’t think it is her call on whether the 2 men should be punished or not. Degrading women or men in this way is unacceptable and does not make for entertainment as far as I am concerned.
It was interesting to see how the housemates reacted to the event. David overeracted to Jamie’s comment but I think bc he was concerned for Camilla. But yes … it was all about Jamie again. Poor Camilla, she has bee through so much in the house that I would be happy for them to axe this series now and hand the money over to her!

I agree with Annie, that was totally uncalled for by Ash and John. It isn’t for Camilla to decide it it was inappropriate, it is for the law.

I think you are all wrong 1 Camilla has every right to decide or atleast contribute to the decision of whether
Ashley and John should stay in the house after all it did happen to her not to Big Brother or anyone else. 2 She was stupid enough to go over to the bed and get in and close her eyes when they told her to. 3 She did not care that they did that and she even told Big Brother that she knew they were just fooling around. 4 I think it is just stupid how now she is a favourite to win just because of that incident now every one is like ohhhh poor Camilla she was sexually harrassed or sexually assulted but if she was sexually harrassed or assulted or even slightly felt that she was being bullied into it she would have done something about it but as she said she knew they were just fooling around. 5 And I definatley do not want Big Brother cancelled it is just stupid that they are even thinking of doing that because so many people like Big Brother and just because the people who do watch it have more taste than the people who dont I think it is silly they leave stupid shows like Home and Away on but they are even considering cancelling Big Brother. It is stupid that people say this should be cancelled because it is stupid when Australia has stupid American programs on television when they are even more stupid than Big Brother but they wont cancel those programs.

Yes i think that big brother was right doing what he did to the boys(john and ashely), as it was not right on what thay had done .But i stronly disagree with robyn about handing the money over the money to camilla as she knew what thay where going to do as she said to them prior (the boys)doing it , quote ( you better not give me a turkey slap ) so there for i don’t think that she sould win the game just on that i think that the game just should stay the same as it has always has been .

Well perhaps we could swap them for all the UK’s Big brother contestants, they sound like ‘men’ rather than a boy learning to cook an egg, a metrosexual canadian terrorist, and a liverpool male whom is rather vacant in the brain area.
They can bore you instead, and your right wingers can deport them at the end of the series too any takers ?.

Having now (finally) seen and heard the footage I think it has been totally blown out of proportion.
You have to remember that these guys did what they did late at night in the “privacy” of their bedroom. Camilla was playing along the whole time, before during and after. When she said stop, they stopped. She was a little grossed out by it all, but she was never distraught about it.
While I TOTALLY agree that the boys went too far and dont for a second condone that behaviour, I think that the whole thing has been handled really badly by the BB producers and they have made John and Ash out to be sex fiends, which clearly they are not.
Why does BB have infrared cameras in the bedroom? Is it to capture the scintillating conversations late at night? No, they have microphones for that. The infrared cameras are there to capture the naughty video.
Did Jamie get booted for the oral sex act he allegedly performed on Katie?? Or Katie for the rub-a-dub in the tub?? Did Danielle get booted after Dino’s Doonah Dance?? No, they did not.
These were all late night, in the dark, sexual behaviour and in each case, nobody complained about it.
But it has certainly sparked a lot of interest in a show that seemed to be losing viewers by the truckload. Or maybe I’m a cynic.

Not too cynical Wigs. I totally agree that this thing is a massive polarising storm in a teacup. Big Brother really is a human zoo and anybody not watching it can’t really give an informed opinion.
If the PM wears his green tracksuit when watching the soccer, can you imagine what he’d be wearing if he actually watched BB?

After seeing the footage I don’t put any blame on John or Ashley, and certainly feel if anyone had to be evicted then it should have been the three of them as I feel with the words..” Your not going to turkey slap me are you….liars…LET ME IN” there was no sexual assault it was just three youn highly sexually charged young people having some fun. Those boys have been victimised and robbed of what they were entitled to. I wish both the boys luck and hope in some way they will overcome it all and win in their own right….Big Brother you are very unfair in many ways…. just for the sake of rating…. Shame on you.
