The Winner is… Jamie!

August 1, 2006

There you have it, the end of BB06 and Jamie was the winner.  I’m glad that someone interesting with a real personality won it this year.  He really did contribute to the drama in the house and for that reason, I think him a worthy winner.

Camilla did put her heart into it and showed her true character.  She was the mouthpiece for the other housemates when they wouldn’t speak out against new personalities, in particular, Perry.  I do think she would have been extremely difficult to live with, but she also was a major contributor to the drama and interest in the house.  I think the final three were all worthwhile finalists.

This year’s grand finale show was a massive effort.  I think it is the biggest production yet.  It was nice to see all of the former housemates come back to watch the show with Jamie and Camilla.  The dramatic lovers reunion with Jamie and Katie was as well staged as their farewell kiss.  The drinks in the house were a nice touch too, but for the housemates it would have seemed far too short a time.  It was more for the benefit of the viewers.

The announcement of the winner was shifted back into the house this year.  I think they must have realised that the way they did it last year was a disservice to the runner up.  I think it is better in the house… we get to watch the winner pace around the house in hysterics!

John and Ashley weren’t invited back to the grand finale which must have made them feel awful.  I know I would feel like crap if that was me.  I’m glad that their ejection from the house wasn’t excluded in the season recap.

The Underneath the Radar cover version that Danielle performed with the aid of the housemate dancers was fun.  It would have taken a lot of guts for me to go out dressed like Gaelan and DinoRob was funny with his cheerleader skirt too!  I bet Krystal was pissed off that she missed to opportunity to sing instead of Danielle.

It was also good that the Friday Night Games people got to make an appearance on the final show.  They have been a big part of the show this year and should be acknowledged.  I can’t believe last night was the first time that Gretel Killeen and Mike Goldman have appeared on camera together.  Is it just me or did Gretel seem to have a kind of arrogance toward Mike as if she thinks is the true star of the show.  Mike works a lot harder each series with his voiceovers, Up Late and Friday Night Games.

So, all in all, it has been an interesting season.  As I have mentioned previously, I think the actual show would have been more interesting if the housemates had have been more diverse and Big Brother was more cheeky than mean.  There were a lot of good points, with the addition of the one hour weekend recap on Sunday nights before the eviction show.  The added dimension of the 2SAVE votes was also good.  I thought it was a pity that Adult’s Only didn’t make it to the end of the season.  Next year, if there is a series, AO should be more personality than sex driven… but make sure the humorous montages are retained!

Finally I would personally like to thank all of visitor to Brad’s Big Brother Blog.  It has been an interesting ride for someone with very little previous success in blogging.  I have had over 57,000 hits since the start of the series.  I would also dearly like to thank all of the regular commenters… you most of all have made this worthwhile.  It’s nice to talk about Big Brother and to me, discussing it is what it’s all about.

All the best,

Brad.

Katie’s Farewell Message

June 20, 2006

It seems Katie doesn’t think much of Krystal or Rob.  Who cares?  I thought it was ungracious of her to say what she did to them on the farewell message.  She wasn’t even constructive.

Next time Katie, if you can’t say anything nice, don’t say anything!

Ha Det Katie

June 19, 2006

Wow! I can't believe it, the most popular housemate is BB06 has been evicted at the series half way mark. It shows you what reacting badly to being nominated can do to public opinion.

Katie started off with a lot of promise and looked to me like she would win people's hearts like Sara-Marie (BB01) or Reggie (BB03). She seemed fairly together for someone her age and came out with brilliant blonde one-liners like "I think comedians are the funniest people."

Her biggest problem in going all the way to the end was hooking up with Jamie, which gave everybody an insight into her insecurities.

The farewell kiss between her and Jamie was brilliantly staged and manipulated by Big Brother. They were never planning to leave us wondering if it was David or Katie that would be evicted! Maybe I'm being cynical but I think Jamie hammed up the seperation tears.

Now, I get my wish granted to see how Jamie will behave in the house now that Katie has left. Pity Krystal and Gaelan are together.

Goal!

June 16, 2006

It's a shame the Socceroos aren't up against the housemates in the world cup. Can you imagine the goals they'd score?

In all honesty it's a dumb task this week. How can you expect the housemates to guard a goal that size from a launcher at that proximity without any warning? I also find watching the housemates writhe around on the floor in mock agony cringeworthy.

I didn't think I'd mention that Jamie and Katie are still giving me the shits! I can't believe they are still going. Talk about *MAJOR* dummy spit. I hope the games are amusing tonight.

The Sooking Continues

June 15, 2006

“One of us is going on Sunday. And that is the bitter pill to swallow.”

GET OVER IT JAMIE!

It’s not a bitter pill for the rest of us.  I can’t believe how dumb Jamie and Katie are being over this issue.  They know what nominations are like and how hard they are to do.

I want them out now… well not really, I’m enjoying watching younger, cooler people show how insecure they are!

Nomination Aftermath

June 14, 2006

I cannot believe the way Jamie and Katie are behaving in the wake of their nominations for eviction this week.  This could be David’s saving grace.   Poor old Camilla who has been almost up for eviction from the start of series has had to suck it up every week and just deal with it.  Then when ‘the younger, like, cooler people‘ get their first nomination half way through the series, they crack the shits and start behaving like naughtly school children.  I agree with David, they are little shits.

I’m changing my tip for eviction this week to Katie!

I sure hope they decide to both leave if one or the other goes.  I am sick of them!  C’mon BB bring the double eviction forward one week!

Nominations 7

This week's nominees for eviction are…

  • David
  • Jamie
  • Katie

Well!  What an interesting selection we have this week.

Firstly I'll just say, what the hell was David thinking when he decided to give the 3 point deduction to Ashley?  Oh yeah, he's a martyr.  Ashley?  The guy nominated him for god's sake!  David says he is quite happy to be judged by the public and let them decide if they want him to stay in the house or not.  Hopefully this time next week he isn't too upset with the result.  I can't believe how astute Danielle was during the Nominations Show in predicting what he would do.

The other point I want to make is that I can't believe how cruel Big Brother is to Ashley during his nominations.  "Ashley, what do you mean David is 'over-mature'?"  C'mon Big Brother, the guy is just inarticulate.  Give him a break.  You know what he is trying to say.  I'm glad you gave him a nomination point, but I think you were a little unfair to him.

Well I was hoping that Ashley could be evicted this week, but he has escaped again.  So I would like to see Katie evicted from the house.  That would have the double benefit of breaking her and Jamie up and allowing us to see how Jamie would behave without her in the house…  But my tip is that David is leaving on Sunday.

Katie in the Chamber

June 9, 2006

Didn’t see much of the daily show last night.  My life interfered again!

But I did manage to catch Katie’s experience in ‘The Chamber’ when they put the snake up against her thigh.  One of my co-watchers commented on the fact that it wouldn’t scare Katie as it wasn’t the biggest snake she’s felt with her eyes closed since coming into the house! ;-)   Great observation!!

Katie’s Deal With the Devil

June 7, 2006

I couldn’t believe it last night when Jamie was telling (I think) John that Katie looked strange when she came out of the diary room after exercising her 3 point nomination point subtraction.

‘I think she’s made a deal with Big Brother or something.  I don’t think she took the 3 points off anyone.’

I can’t believe you’d speculate about Katie like that with someone else Jamie.  Shame.

Nominations 6

June 6, 2006

The nominees for eviction this week are…

  • Camilla
  • Danielle
  • Rob

Not many surprises really.  Rob has been acting like a goody two-shoes ever since the housemates failed last week's etiquette task… despite the fact he decided to have a skinny dip in the pool in broad daylight.

Danielle has upset people for various reasons including her involvement in the 'love triangle.'

And, it wouldn't be a normal week if Camilla wasn't up for eviction.  Every series has to have one like her.

I couldn't believe it when Katie decided to take the 3 nomination points off Camilla instead of Danielle… dodging a nomination bullet for herself in the process.  Very inspired indeed!

My tip for eviction this week is Rob.  He's too much of a drama queen.
